INFERNAL Mainman Issues Demo Update
July 6, 2009Swedish guitarist David Parland (NECROPHOBIC, DARK FUNERAL) recently joined forces with drummer Tomas Asklund (ex-DARK FUNERAL, DISSECTION) and guitarist Martin Halfdan (ex-NECROPHOBIC) in a brand new project called INFERNAL (which was also the name of Parland's last group that split up in 2003). The revamped band is working on a new demo entitled "The Infernal Return" which should be completed soon. David says, "Things are going very well and as fast as [the demo] is completed (it will be a four-tracker — not including the intro),we will release it both on the Net and in a very limited CD edition. We don't want to have another official MCD out, and this is basically only for promotional purposes and for sending out copies to record companies."
He adds, "We hope to get a deal fast (in fact, I know we will) and get out the real full-length by early 2010. We have by now 75% of the material for it, so all is up to finding a good record label. INFERNAL has big plans for the future and our goal is to establish us as one of the top Swedish/Scandinavian death/black metal bands."
Regarding the decision to use the INFERNAL name for the new project, David previously said, "When we started up again, we initially wanted to call the band something totally different, but we never came up with anything good enough, and whenever we did, we found out that these names already were taken.
"Anyaway, since both myself and Tomas were members of the last real INFERNAL lineup, and the concept still remains 100% Satanic, we see no reason to not call ourselves something less good or half-assed, just because the sound mainly is no longer the hyper-blast stuff we used to do in our earlier bands.
"This new INFERNAL is still purely Satanic, but generally has a more accessible sound, more melodic, but still brutal, and with some blast parts as well. We generally want to people to think of this as new band, more or less a complete rebirth of a band that once was (and still is again). We don't want people to even compare it with the old stuff since it's in most ways not the same band."
The following demo samples are now available on the INFERNALMySpace page:
* "The Darkside Calls" (Intro)
* "Godforsaken (With Hate I Burn)"
* "Of The Seven Gates"
David says, "[these three tracks] show pretty well what to expect from this new incarnation of this band. Dark and evil, fast and heavy, but at the same time melodic and atmospheric."
